This is stipulated at 3-5 average working days. As we use a 'part load' delivery firm for this kind of delivery, goods are usually received within an average of 3-5 working days. We cannot however guarantee this, and accept no liability if delivery is made outside of 5 working days. Our haulier has agreed to call you when the driver loads the order, using the contact number given when the order was placed with us. Only then, can the driver give you an approximate date/time to expect delivery. There must be someone in to accept the delivery. As our drivers are governed by manual handling there must either be a forklift on site or other parties to help offload. Deliveries are curbside terms and is the drivers judgement if they wish to move your goods further. If an attempted delivery has taken place, with the contact being previously notified of the delivery date, you will be re-charged for another delivery, restarting the terms mentioned above. If the driver cannot get hold of the you to arrange delivery, prior to loading the consignment onto the vehicle, the order will be placed on the next available part load delivery vehicle, once you have been notified of this. The terms for the 3-5 average working days restart from this date. For a guaranteed delivery date, you must use our next day delivery service. (Unfortunately this is unavailable on our Double Doorsets).
Complete orders and payment must be received by noon prior to the following working day of delivery for this service. You must be available to accept delivery between 8am-6pm on the given day, unless previously specified (timed deliveries can be organised at extra cost). If the delivery cannot be made, the service will be re-charged and the terms mentioned restarted. As we use an external delivery firm to deliver using this service, the liability is moved from us, onto our chosen firm. This information (chosen haulier) can be given on request, along with a tracking/consignment number, if required.
If the delivery terms are different to either of the above, they will be clearly mentioned and confirmed prior to an order being accepted.
If there is likely to be any delay with your order, we will do our best to notify you by email or phone at the earliest opportunity. This will give you the opportunity to choose an alternative item in stock, change the specific or obtain a refund. If you require any notice prior to delivery or have any special requirements you must inform us at time of order to allow us to inform the delivery company.
It is a necessity that someone is available to accept goods, and sign for them. Also, it is sometimes asked for someone to be on site to help offload the goods. If this is agreed, and no-one can help the driver when there, the driver has the right to return the goods back to us. We'll then be in touch with you to rearrange a delivery, re-charge. On the second attempt, the driver will expect someone to help offload on arrival. If you agree to have the goods delivered without checking them (for example, leave goods down side of house), we accept no responsibility for missing parts or damages. This voids our returns policies, as damages/robberies could happen in the interring period. We need it down in writing that you're happy to have the door left in your chosen destination, which in turn, shows that you understand the risks, and terms and conditions implied.
Upon signing for the delivery you are signing to confirm that you received the goods and they are in good condition. If you sign for the goods you are accepting responsibility and liability. We will not accept responsibility if you sign without checking. There will be a label on the item and on the delivery form to confirm this, it will read:
" SHORTAGES MUST BE REPORTED WITHIN 24 HOURS. THE GOODS LEFT OUR WORKS IN PERFECT CONDITION. IF ANY ITEMS ARE RECEIVED, DAMAGED, PLEASE NOTIFY US IMMEDIATELY BY PHONE. UNCHECKED OR UNEXAMINED IS UNACCEPTABLE, DOORS WILL NOT BE EXCHANGED ONCE THEY HAVE BEEN FITTED."
All delivered consignments must be thoroughly checked for damage and missing parts. If damaged, or parts are missing, we must be notified immediately. Photos must also be taken immediately to prove that the damages were there upon delivery, and they haven't happened in the interim period, whilst the goods have been in your hands. We give 24 hours to report damages / missing parts. Once outside of this period, we will charge for any replacements. We will however, look into each individual case, and make sure any decisions made, are fair to both parties. To avoid getting to this stage, goods must be checked thoroughly on delivery, and simply rejected if considered damaged, and contact made to us with proof and reasoning.
Please note that there may be unavoidable delays during holiday periods (i.e. Christmas), extreme weather and times of heightened security.
Please DO NOT remove your current door (lessening the security of your property) before receiving, and checking the goods. Latham's Security Doorsets Ltd. will not be held responsible for loss of earnings/deposits/any financial costs, property being out of us or any other eventuality. GOODS WILL ONLY BE SENT AFTER RECEIVING CLEARED PAYMENT
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY CUSTOMS CHARGES AND TAXES YOU MAY INCUR ON IMPORTING/EXPORTING GOODS (this should only affect people NOT living in a E.U. country).
We are not liable for any costs incurred in regards to liquidating damages or penalty clauses due to late deliveries, as we use a third party haulier which is out of our control.
When you opt to collect the doors yourself, or appoint your own courier using the "collect in person" option; all doors must be checked within 24 hours of collection.
Any damages or missing parts must be notified to us within 24 hours. Our warehouse staff will note if they feel the door/s have been loaded in an unsafe/insecure manner, which could result in transit damage.
All collected items must be returned by the buyer if a return or exchange is necessary. If any items are modified in any way we will not offer a replacement or refund.
At Latham's Security Doorsets Ltd. we accept nothing less, than for all of our customers to be 100% satisfied with their purchase. However, if for any reason you are not completely satisfied, you can return any STOCK items to us within 30 days for a refund or exchange, less deduction for postage and card charges. This is in compliance with The Consumer Rights Act, 1st October 2015. We must be firstly notified before any returns are made. On acceptance of your case, the following terms apply:
1) Our returns policy is strictly 30 days.
2) The item(s) must be returned to us in their original as new condition with all of the accessories and packaging. Items that have been used, installed or damaged in any way will invalidate our offer. Door(s) returned with damaged packaging will be subject to a flat rate of £50.00 per door. This covers labour and materials to re-package
3) Refunds are subject to deduction of postage charges and a 2.5% card payment processing charge to cover card charges.
4) Orders cancelled within 24 hours of being placed are subject to a 2.5% charge to cover credit card fees. This is providing the order hasn't already been dispatched, in which case, see term 2
5) Items classed as 'Made-to-measure', 'Bespoke' or 'Commissioned', i.e powder coated different colours, are also non-refundable unless faulty as these are not stock pieces and have been made specifically for you.
6) Any product, or product part e.g. locking mechanism, that is tampered with, voids the waranty and return policy as stated in this document. We will not replace or refund any product that has been modified or tampered with.
Unless you use our collection service, we are not responsible for returned packages until they have actually been received, you must use a signed-for (tracked) delivery service when returning orders and we will not be held responsible for returns that are damaged or go missing in the post. You must include the original order reference paperwork with the return, along with a suitable contact name, number and email address, if this has changed from the original order. Any refunds will be made using the method that payment was received. If you paid by card, the refund will be made back to the card used for original payment, likewise for any bank transfer payments. If accepted, the refund will take up to 30 days after the goods have been received and checked by us. If we reject a case, and find that a product has been returned with malicious damage, we will not make a refund. If you would like to retrieve the damaged goods, a delivery charge will be placed using our delivery terms, or collection can be made.
By fitting a doorset, you are accepting that the door is fit for purpose - after thoroughly checking. If the products is not of satisfactory condition / quality, do not fit it. We cannot replace used goods.
Product and shipping costs are clearly stated where possible. If this seems unclear, please contact us to explain further. The shipping costs stipulated on the website ARE NOT FOR THE HIGHLANDS, IRELAND, OR ANYWHERE OUTSIDE OF ENGLAND, WALES and SCOTLAND MAINLAND. Bespoke quotes for shipping are immediately available; please contact us for further information. We reserve the right to reject any orders that have been placed on the website, with incorrect charges applied. We can either refund in full and cancel the order, or charge the outstanding amount.
All of our products have gone through a thorough quality control process, are finally rechecked prior to being packaged by our manufacturer, before being shipped to us. Each door is firstly covered with a layer of cling wrap, then polystyrene and finally strapped with corrugated cardboard. On quantity orders, sufficient measures are taken to protect the consignments from being damaged in transport i.e. high density polystyrene lengths on pallets, then shrink wrapped in some cases.
Latham's Security Doorsets Ltd. works using a strict pro forma invoice policy only. We hold no facilities for accounts, and kindly ask for no offence to be taken when a request for an account is rejected. Goods are only released once payment has fully cleared. Allow 5 working days for cheques to clear, likewise for bank transfers. Cash on delivery is accepted in some circumstances. If counterfeit cash is received, the invoice addressee will be held responsible, and reported immediately to the Police.
A 2.5% "handling fee" is added to credit card and PayPal payments. Additional costs are added due to extra admin costs incurred processing your order. The fee will be displayed as Shipping and Handling even if you don't have any shipping fees.
We reserve the right to consider any goods our property until paid for 100% in full. We will retrieve any goods that are unpaid within 30 days.
If fitting is required, a set price will be agreed and also paid upfront on a pro forma basis. Once the 'sign off sheet' is signed, agreeing that the job of fitting has been completed to a satisfactory condition, any further site visits, or maintenance site visits will be charged at our standard daily rate.
Please allow up to 7mm discrepancy above or below the sizes stipulated on this site. Due to mass manufacture, on occasions, external frame sizes can vary somewhat, along with our over panels and side panels, which can also vary. Although this is very occasional, it is only fair this is mentioned to help accommodating in pre-fitting preparation. We always ask for a 10mm tolerance on width and 5mm tolerance on height, so, for example, a perfect opening in brickwork would be 1005mmx2025mm for our 995mmx2020mm door set.
We expect fitters to have sufficient knowledge in steel door and frame fitting before agreeing to confidently fit one of our doorsets correctly. Fitting includes perfect 100% plumb and accurate fixing, and general adjusting. Doors 'binding', 'hitting frame', 'having to slam door shut' are a sign of poor fitting, and are not our responsibly. Although our fitting instructions are informative, general door fitting experience is also needed to ensure a smooth fitting procedure. We can offer certain advice on the phone, but cannot talk a novice through how to do this correctly. If for any reason the door is not working correctly in its frame due to poor fitting, we will happily send our door technician out to rectify any problems, with all tools/parts needed, but this will be charged at out standard daily rate. Any damages that occur through misfitting will be charged to rectify, including the cost of any parts. We expect door fitters to take on adjustment work once the door has been fitted, which can include: 3 point fire exit bar adjustment (threads located under shoot bolt covers), filing to shoot bolt receivers (holes in frames), drilling through shoot bolt holes thresholds, to name a few. In some cases, hinge movement is required due to slightly angled hinges, and in other cases, we will talk the customer through how to rectify minor problems which are to be expected from a mass manufactured product. On occasion, fixing plates can be prepped incorrectly, so we kindly ask for the fitter to re-drill holes next to these, or file out the hole in the right direction. Only in major cases will the door sets be replaced, when we consider the work to be too much work for the fitter.
On occasions, minor damages can occur. We accept chips and minor surface scratches (up to 2 inches long, and not denting the metal work) to be acceptable. In these cases, we will provide rust treatment, and spray paint for the fitter to make a simple repair. We will not replace a door for such minor defects, which are to be expected with a bulky product, which is constantly 'hand balled'.
On fitting, a general maintenance procedure should be started. The O&M manual, which is also available for download, should be followed to maintain and extend the life of our products. This is standard practise for this kind of product, manufactured from metal with moving parts. General maintenance includes greasing all moving parts, and exposed metal parts to aid in avoiding corrosion and keep moving parts smooth and mechanically safe to use.
Coatings and Expectancies
Our doors are powder coated with a standard polyester powder coat, which is not marine grade. We accept no liability for the reduction in life of our products, if they are fitted in coastal or environmentally harsh conditions. Deteriation of coatings can occur in a matter of weeks in such conditions. We class coastal environments as within 10 miles of the coast. If a marine grade steel door is required, please contact us for a bespoke make doorset quotation. Some stainless steel components/furniture including hinges, are manufactured from at least Grade #201 stainless steel.
We will not be held responsible for any blemishes or imperfections in the doors or frames when stripped for re-powdercoating or painting. Our products come ready finished, and fit for purpose. If you choose to remove the powdercoat or at all tamper with the finish (including painting over), we will not be held responsible for the re-finish. You do this at your own risk.
All Latham's Security Doorset's Ltd. door sets are manufactured to open outwards, but can be rotated around to open inwards. In doing so (rotating door sets around to open inwards), the security of the door is drastically reduced, and we do not recommend this, unless this is the only option. Having the door set opening inwards moves many of the safety measures (anti-jemmy bar lips) onto the inside of the door, so they no longer do their job in protecting the door against jemmy bar and impact type attacks.
As the door sets are manufactured to open outwards, they also work best this way as far as weatherproofing is concerned. For external applications (doors fitted externally, open to the elements), we highly recommend a rain drip to be purchased with the door. This is to be fitted on site along with the door, reducing the chances of the water hitting the seal pressed between the threshold and the door, therefore reducing the chances of water seeping through the door seals.
We do not imply that our doors are rated to any specification. However, sending the specification sheet to your local authority (for gun rooms for example) or your insurance provider can sometimes be enough for them to accept the use of our products, staying in line with your insurance requirements. Many insurance providers stipulate what the door sets should have: locking system, steel thickness e.t.c, but they also state 'or equivalent'. Providing you check with your insurance provider first, although our doors may not be specified, they may be of equivalent or if not better specification than the door set your insurance require.
Due to the continual improvement of our ranges of products, we reserve the right to alter the product specification without prior notice. During this process, some of the doors will be labeled as 12 Point (15 locking points altogether) when they are in fact 19 Point. Also during this transition you may receive a 15 Point locking doorset, however the security is not compromised.
A 12 month warranty is implied when any products are purchased from us, against corrosion and general workings of our products. This warranty covers any defects in the material or workmanship under normal use during the warranty period. If any products have been at all modified, this voids the warranty. If we believe that the doors have been attacked, damaged, fitted in a harsh environment or incorrectly fitted, this will also void the warranty. If a case is accepted, and a product has either stopped working correctly, or corroded within the 12 months, we will supply replacement parts, or other means to rectify the problem. Only in extreme cases will we agree to replace a complete door set, including proof that the door was correctly fitted, not tampered with, and correctly maintained using the O&M manual. We will look into each individual case independently, and fairly evaluate our actions comprehensibly explaining why we have chosen to either accept the case, or reject it.

It is essential that the Drop Bar Kit is only used on fire exit doors when the building is unoccupied. They are to be used at your own risk. It must also be added into your fire risk assessment, that the drop bars are not to be used while the bulding is occupied and must be removed by the first person that enters the building. In the event of a fire, fire exit doors must be able to open from the insde, once the panic bar is pressed; keeping the drop bars on the door would stop this.
